Two years ago, we started with Little Spoon Blendables during that newborn stage when food felt overwhelming.
I didn’t write about it then, because I was in the thick of it. Now we’re two years in, I’m self-employed, still working from home with a toddler, and I can actually see more clearly now that we’re sleeping 12 hour nights. Also, if you’re looking for a Little Spoon discount code, you can still use: SPOONSQUAD50 for 50% off your first order – here’s my affiliate link.
If you want the baby-stage story, NICU anxiety, allergens, early teeth, how we transitioned you can read that here. But, this is what it looks like now in toddlerhood
Back then, food felt high stakes but now?
Some weeks we survive off berries.
Some days it’s a granola bar and vibes.
Chicken nuggets are a reliable go-to.
And I’m pretty convinced a lot of it is texture. If something feels “off,” we’re done. Even if he loved it yesterday. Toddlers are humbling. Meanwhile, I’m self-employed now. Still working from home. Client calls during nap. Editing at night. Building something while keeping a tiny human alive. So lunch is really where Little Spoon meals shine, to help me get through the work day.
So clearly, we don’t use it the way we did at 6–9 months. It’s not about allergens anymore, or milestone tracking, it’s about margin and less food waste. I open the fridge or freezer and know:
That peace of mind looks different than it did in year one, but it still matters.
What changed:
What didn’t:
Two years in, Little Spoon isn’t a feeding philosophy for us, it’s a practical tool and that feels a little more balanced. We mainly use the meals for lunch time during my work day, for meals at friends and family’s houses if we know there will be dairy (still haven’t passed the dairy ladder yet) and for when we want something spicy for dinner he can’t have. We also supplement with snacks including pouches, fruit rippers, bars, and puffs.
If you’re at the beginning, here’s how ours evolved:
Blendables → Allergen exposure → Baby-led weaning → Biteables → Toddler survival mode (berries, nuggets, freezer backups) to know their Meal plates and pouches.
If you’re in the early stage and want the full breakdown of how we started, read that here.
